Jonathan
Proctor – Managing Director
Jonathan has over 20 years professional experience as an environmental manager
and has worked throughout the UK and Europe. He has steered the business in developing
its portfolio from its initial project work in Shetland to entrepreneurial developments
such as green tourism.
His personal commitment, knowledge and abilities have been instrumental in the
development of sustainable tourism in the UK, community developments in sustainable
tourism in Africa and the founding of VISIT (Voluntary Initiative for Sustainability
in Tourism) an international association for ecolabels in Europe. As Vice Chairman
of the organisation he prepared the code of conduct for ecolabels registering
to VISIT, helped co-ordinate the preparation of the VISIT standards for ecolabels
and established the assessment process for verifying ecolabels. Through these
experiences he has established a core team of specialists to develop and deliver
the design, development and delivery of sustainable tourism accreditation through
products and services available through SEA Ltd and delivered through through
business partners in committed destinations.
Andrea Nicholas – Director of
Partnerships
Andrea is the Managing Director of green business UK the not for profit company
operating the Green Tourism Business scheme in the UK. She is a director
of SEA Ltd and as such has a role in the development of the vision for the
company and the development of its services. She is a landscape designer
and architect and has over 10 years experience as an environmental manager
and auditor through green tourism. She has worked in New Zealand helping
Qualmark develop their certification processes to include green issues and
has established pioneering partnerships with Visit Scotland and Visit Britain
including the endorsement of the Green Tourism Business Scheme by the International
Centre for Responsible Tourism. |
Janie
Neumann – Development Executive
Janie is a senior grading advisor for green tourism and has now
specialised in helping develop the international programme
for the company. As a German American Janie has a unique set
of abilities including the establishment of management procedures
for ecolabels. This includes an in-depth knowledge and experience
of the successful establishment and growth of membership and
auditing services through her work in the UK. Janie is providing
assistance to Qualmark in the roll out of their Enviromark
badge which is a requirement for all quality graded establishments
in new Zealand.
Ian Wasson – Senior Associate
Ian is a senior grading advisor for green tourism and is specialising
on the technical development of services in tourism experiences. He has a broad range of experience including the development
of the green box programme in Ireland, the EU flower in Europe
and undertaking research and development work for green Tourism.
Harro Boekhold– Senior Associate
African developments
Harro is a senior associate of SEA Ltd and leads the development
and establishment of SEA Ltds African programmes from an office
base in Arusha Tanzania. Harro is an experienced assessor through
the Milieubarometer the Dutch green tourism ecolabel which
operated between 1997 and 2005. Since then Harro has concentrated
on International Sustainable Tourism developments in fair trade
tours and experiences and hosting the fledging secretariat
of VISIT for three years between 2004 and 2007. During this
time Jon and Harro worked together on the development and delivery
of the VISIT code of conduct and undertook appraisals of Tourism
ecolabels and initiatives seeking to become registered with
VISIT. This work involved the development of key indicators
and assessment procedures for ecolabels meeting the Common
European standard.
